International Database on the Legal and Socio-Ethical
Aspects of Population Genetics

Large-scale human population genetics research studies seek to explore and understand complex, common diseases by analyzing genetic variations and gene-environment interactions. In order to do so, and to facilitate this type of research, population studies that collect data and biological samples have arisen across the world.

Over the past decade, these studies and collections have progressed to include a variety of populations and as a consequence challenging the adequacy of traditional legal and ethical norms pertaining to research involving human subjects.

PopGen presents a database of international, regional and national laws and policies addressing human genetic population research and the collection of data and biological samples.
